WPL 2023: Today marks the start of the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL). A spectacular opening ceremony was held at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai featuring electrifying performances by renowned celebrities, such as Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon from Bollywood, as well as the Punjabi singer-composer AP Dhillion. Prior to the event, Dhillion met with two of India’s cricketing stars, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol, in the locker room where they had a relaxed jam session.

With Jemimah’s skilled guitar playing, the trio delivered a beautiful rendition of a popular Punjabi track that left Dhillion impressed. Once they finished their own performance, Jemimah and Harleen playfully asked AP Dhillion to showcase his skills by singing a Punjabi track, to which the singer couldn’t deny. He went on to delight them by performing one of his popular songs, with Jemimah providing musical accompaniment on her guitar.
Towards the end of the video, Jemimah added some lighthearted remarks, displaying her playful personality. Jemimah also said, “You have a lovely voice. I think you can become a very big singer in future.”

Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol will be part of different teams in the first season of the WPL. Jemimah has been acquired by the Delhi Capitals for an impressive sum of Rs 2.2 crore, making her one of the most expensive players in the auction. In addition to being a key player, she has also been given the responsibility of vice-captain for the Delhi team. Meanwhile, Harleen has joined the Gujarat Giants, being picked up for her base price of Rs 40 lakh.
