AAP ordinance outreach: Kejriwal to head meeting of Punjab ministers, MLAs and MPs in Chandigarh

AAP ordinance outreach: The Aam Aadmi Party is set to hold a massive show of strength and unity of party leaders here on Wednesday.

With party supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal arriving here on Wednesday May 31 evening, a huge gathering of all ministers and MLAs of the party in Punjab, besides all its Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs, is slated to be held here in the night.

Bhagwant Mann to host dinner for party leaders

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is hosting a dinner at his official residence where the AAP leaders are expected to gather.

Sources in the party said that all guests have been invited along with their respective families for the dinner. The idea behind hosting the dinner is not just to keep the party leaders in good humour, but also apprise them of the ordinance brought in by BJP to keep control over officers in Delhi. The Punjab-based leaders are also to be apprised of the “ordinance outreach” of the party.

Besides, the party will also celebrate the success of the party in the Jalandhar by-election

It is learnt that the Delhi CM will spend the night here before he leaves with the Punjab CM on Thursday for Tamil Nadu and Odisha to gain support of the DMK and BJD against the ordinance.

Delhi ordinance

The ordinance was issued on May 19, days after the Supreme Court gave a verdict on May 11 that gave the Delhi government control over bureaucrats assigned to departments under its purview. The ordinance takes away the control over services from the Delhi government, making the L-G the chief arbiter. Any ordinance needs to be passed by Parliament within six weeks of its reassembly, or it lapses.
