Anurag Dhanda Alleges Rising Debt in Delhi, Questions BJP Govt’s Financial Transparency

The remarks come amid an ongoing political exchange between the AAP and the BJP over governance and financial management in the national capital.

Anurag Dhanda criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party government over the financial situation in Delhi, alleging that the national capital has been pushed into a “debt trap” within just one year of governance.

In a social media post, Dhanda said that Delhi had earlier maintained a revenue surplus strategy under former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, which he claimed helped keep the city’s finances stable and focused on welfare and development initiatives.

Questions BJP Govt’s Financial Transparency

Dhanda further claimed that for the first time in Delhi’s history, the government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Reserve Bank of India to take a loan of around ₹1,000 crore from the open market.

He said the government should provide complete transparency regarding the borrowing process, including the terms of the loan and the purpose for which the funds will be used.

According to Dhanda, the public has the right to know how government finances are being managed and whether the borrowed funds are being utilised for development projects or other expenditures.

The remarks come amid an ongoing political exchange between the AAP and the BJP over governance and financial management in the national capital.
