The political landscape heated up today as AAP convenor and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the Modi government, accusing it of betraying farmers. In a morning press conference, Kejriwal highlighted that the government’s move to waive import duties on American cotton until December 31 was a direct blow to India’s farmers and industries.
Anurag Dhanda Retweets Arvind Kejriwal’s Attack on Modi Government Over Farmers’ Betrayal and US Tariff Policy
Supporting his remarks, AAP leader and National Media In-Charge Anurag Dhanda retweeted Kejriwal’s statement on social media, ensuring it reached a wider audience. The tweet sharply questioned the government’s stance:
“So Modi government waived duty on American cotton till December 31. This is a huge betrayal of farmers. Modi ji has completely surrendered before Trump. This is not only dangerous for farmers, industries and jobs but also an attack on the dignity of 140 crore Indians.”
Kejriwal went further to question why the Indian government had knelt before Donald Trump, stressing that stronger action was needed. “Trump imposed 50% tariff to damage our industry. Modi ji should have imposed 100% tariff on American goods instead of surrendering,” he declared.
AAP to Hold Historic Rally in Gujarat
Amidst this controversy, Kejriwal announced that on September 7, the Aam Aadmi Party will hold a historic rally in Chotila, Surendranagar (Gujarat), a region known for producing the highest cotton yield in India. He called on all farmer organizations and political parties to unite against what he described as the Modi government’s betrayal.
Kejriwal added that India is being “attacked from both sides” — on one hand, Trump’s tariff hikes, and on the other, Modi’s concessions to the US. The rally is expected to mobilize massive farmer participation and amplify AAP’s campaign against the government’s policies.
