Anurag Dhanda Slams BJP Over Eligibility Criteria for Delhi Welfare Schemes

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anurag Dhanda has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the eligibility criteria for welfare schemes in Delhi, alleging that the conditions have been designed to prevent people from receiving benefits.

Speaking on the issue, Dhanda said the BJP appeared to be a “confused party” and claimed it was facing a situation similar to the final years of the UPA-II government. He alleged that the party was uncertain about its policy direction.

Referring to the 2,400-unit annual electricity consumption limit—equivalent to 200 units per month—Dhanda argued that a large number of Delhi households consume around that amount. According to him, many eligible women could be excluded from receiving benefits under the Mahila Samman scheme because of the prescribed conditions.

The AAP leader further alleged that the eligibility norms were framed in a way that would disqualify most applicants, describing the policy as exclusionary rather than inclusive. He claimed the BJP was unwilling to extend welfare benefits, financial assistance, or support to the public through government schemes.
