Become job givers, not seekers: Delhi CM Kejriwal’s humble appeal to students

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal Thursday said it’s Britishers who are to be held responsible for destroying India’s education system. Accusing Britishers of turning the country’s education system into an assembly line of clerk making, the Delhi CM asked students to become job givers, not seekers.

CM Kejriwal inaugurates East Delhi Campus of Guru Gobind Singh University

The Delhi CM on Friday inaugurated East Delhi Campus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. He said that the new campus is one of the best that country has, adding that it has excellent facilities in terms of architecture.

“This campus will accommodate 2,500 students. It will benefit the economy of the area around it with the opening of shops and generation of employment opportunities,” he said.

“There was no campus like this in east Delhi. We prepared a model for School education where even those without money can get their child educated. Now, we have to focus on higher education,” the Delhi chief minister added.

Kejriwal slams British bureaucrat

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief slammed British Bureaucrat Lord Macaulay for creating an education system in the 1830s that still exists, which solely focuses on educating clerks.

“They destroyed the education system of India to prepare clerks. We didn’t make changes in this system. We have to do something to give education that provides employment.

“On this campus, students will be thought automatic, design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data management, and innovation. This is the demand of the technological world,” he said.

Earlier, Delhi Education Minister Atishi said that when she posted pictures of the campus visit two months back, people asked her if it was Standford University or New York University. She replied to it by saying, “No, this is the campus of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University constructed by the Delhi government.”

Slamming the opposition, Atishi further added, “Some people say the country will progress by building flyovers and bridges. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal says that the construction of more schools and colleges will lead the country to progress.”
