Bengaluru Cafe Blast: CCTV Captures Bengaluru Bomber’s Image, Spotted with Suspicious Bag, Delhi on Alert

Bengaluru Cafe Blast

Bengaluru Cafe Blast: The suspect in the Bengaluru Rameshwaran Cafe explosion is shown in new CCTV footage that surfaced on Saturday strolling approaching the eatery while allegedly carrying an intense explosive device in a backpack. To find the accused, who is at large following the explosion on Friday that left ten people injured, police have set up seven or eight squads.

IED Bomb Detonated by Timer

According to police sources, the IED bomb was set off by a timer, which is how the low-intensity bombing at the well-known cafe in Bengaluru happened on Friday. This information is being investigated further under anti-terror laws. A team from the National Security Guard (NSG) arrived at the explosion site early on Saturday morning in order to investigate it.

Suspect Approaches Cafe with Shoulder Bag and Disguise

Newly released CCTV footage shows the guy approaching the cafe while carrying a shoulder bag and donning a white cap and mask. Yesterday, the police had recognised the suspect based on the CCTV footage. He was characterised by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as a youthful man in his 28s or 30s. After leaving, he put the bag next to a tree (which is next to the cafe). The blast occurred an hour later.

Suspicious Bag Reported at 11:30 on Friday Morning

Around 11:30 on Friday morning, the floor manager of the hotel reported to the authorities that he had seen someone leaving a suspicious bag. Officers in the Whitefield area also recovered a timer and additional IED components from the blast site. The forensic study that verifies the explosion’s method is still pending.

According to information provided by the police, the suspect pulled up at the location on a BMTC bus, according to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara. “We have constituted several teams. We have collected some evidence from CCTV footage. When the explosion took place, a BMTC bus moved on that way. We have information that he came on a bus. We will arrest the accused as soon as possible,” the minister said.

Seven to Eight Teams Formed for Intensive Investigation

The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosive Substances Act have prompted the Central Crime Branch (CCB) to take up the investigation and case. Bengaluru Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are also looking into the event. Senior officials stated that finding the offender as soon as possible is the top priority, and seven to eight teams have been formed.

Karnataka Chief Minister Pledges Comprehensive Inquiry into Cafe Bombing

Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah promised a thorough inquiry into the event, which happened on Friday between 12:50 and 1 pm and injured ten persons. He acknowledged it was a bomb detonation. He called on the opposition parties to put aside their political differences and work together.

An extensive investigation into the issue was demanded by the opposition BJP. A thorough investigation was sought by BJP state president B Y Vijayendra, who stated, “Callousness of the government in downplaying such crimes is pushing the state into this chaos & proving to be a safe haven for antisocial elements… Failure of police intelligence is also evident in this incident.”

Rameshwaram Cafe Expresses Cooperation and Deep Sadness

In a statement, the Rameshwaram Cafe’s proprietors expressed their cooperation with investigators and stated that they are “deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident at our Brookefield branch.”

An explosion was seen on CCTV during the incident, which resulted in smoke, terrified patrons, and other people leaving the area. Although at first it was thought that a gas leak might have caused the explosion, the fire service subsequently threw that theory out and reported that a bag had been discovered there.

The cafe is situated in the Brookfield district of Whitefield, a bustling neighbourhood that doubles as a business core and a tech cluster. During lunch, it’s generally packed with workers from surrounding offices.

Delhi on Alert

A security alert has been issued in Delhi in response to the explosion in Bengaluru, and local police units have requested that, in addition to increased surveillance and monitoring at busy locations in the national capital, they be deployed more heavily in areas with significant pedestrian traffic.

In markets like Lajpat Nagar, Paharganj, Hauz Khas, and Sarojini Nagar, police patrols have increased. The personnel of the anti-terror squad rigorously verify all incoming material while collaborating closely with intelligence agencies.
