Patna: Today marks the conduct of the second phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 in multiple select districts. The polling process commenced at 7 AM and will occur throughout the day. More than 90 candidates are in the elections, five of whom are monumental leaders whose political fates are revealed today.
The Election Commission has put significant security measures in place to ensure peaceful polling. High security, including deployed central paramilitary forces and local police officers, will be located throughout sensitive polling booths, while continuous monitoring will be done from the control room in Patna.
Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Five Retired Big Names in the Spotlight
There are five big names in this election:
- Tejashwi Yadav (RJD)—The Opposition leader goes through a real test to retain the constituency with competitors who will challenge more than just his status as a leader.
- Sushil Kumar Modi (BJP)—The seasoned veteran’s name and credibility among the NDA is on the line in this election.
- Upendra Kushwaha (RLSP)—He is a leader with regional appeal, who in this election has built a claim toward relevance for his party in the future.
- Jitan Ram Manjhi (HAM)—The former Chief Minister will closely inspect his weight as a leader and how strong his party is in the second phase of the election.
- Raja Chaudhary (JD-U)—Chaudhary is a young leader standing for the ruling party, who will experience the litmus test of popularity.
Security Increased, Drones Used for Surveillance
Officials said that drones are being used for aerial surveillance of sensitive areas. Separate queues and polling booths were set up for women voters. The state police have also ramped up patrols to stop any incidents from occurring.
The Election Commission has asked people to vote in large numbers and insisted that “Every vote will determine who will write the next chapter of Bihar.” In both urban and rural areas, awareness campaigns were conducted to get more people to vote.
Strong Voter Turnout Earlier in the Day
By mid-morning, long queues of voters were seen at polling stations, young, old, and women voted and were excited to cast their votes.
While the counting of results will take a couple of days, today’s polling is expected to set the tone for the remaining election process, whether the ruling coalition strengthens, or the opposition hopes are revived during the battle for Bihar is now heating up fast.
