In a significant development for regional air connectivity, Air India is set to launch direct flight services between Gaya and New Delhi starting September 1, 2025. The announcement marks a major milestone in the Airports Authority of India’s (#AAI) vision of enhancing seamless, inclusive, and accessible air travel across the country.
Bridging Two Cultural Landmarks
The new route not only improves connectivity between Bihar and the national capital, but also links two iconic religious and cultural sites:
Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhgaya – a revered destination for Buddhist pilgrims from across the globe.
Lotus Temple, New Delhi – a symbol of unity and peace, attracting millions of visitors every year.
This route is expected to benefit both domestic tourists and international pilgrims, particularly from Southeast Asia, Japan, and Sri Lanka, who frequently visit Bodhgaya via Delhi.
