Trials begin in Nazafgarh’s biogas plant, to promote waste management: MCD Mayor Shelly Oberoi

Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi on Wednesday inspected the biogas plant under construction in the Najafgarh zone. The biogas plant has been put on trial from today, May 25. The mayor, during her visits, made some key observations and said that this plant will reduce the dumping of ‘gobar’ at landfill sites. In the plant, biogas and organic fertilizers will be made from cow dung coming out of about 1,500 dairies in the area.

Biogas plant trials begin in Nazafgarh

Shelly Oberoi along with MLA Gulab Singh inspected the under-construction biogas plant in Nangli Sakrawati area of ​​Najafgarh zone. Production of gobar gas in the plant has begun today on a trial basis. After five months of trial, the biogas will be made to work at full capacity from October.

Biogas plant to help in waste management

The mayor said that the biggest problem in the area will be solved by the construction of the Gobar Gas Plant. Dairy owners and local people will benefit from the operation of this plant, she said, adding that it will also work towards waste management. The cleanliness will improve in the dairy areas and there will be a reduced amount of waste at the landfill site. Along with this, the spread of diseases will be controlled and the environment will be protected, she pointed out.

Concrete efforts to make Delhi clean

The mayor further said that according to the vision of the Kejriwal government, concerted efforts are being made by the MCD toward making Delhi clean and garbage free. The plant will process 200 metric tonnes of animal dung produced from about 1,500 dairies in the region daily.

Aside from Shelly Oberoi, Councilor Sudesh, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar and other officers of the corporation were present on the occasion.
