The BJP has announced Mohan Charan Majhi as the new Chief Minister of Odisha, marking a significant political breakthrough. Senior BJP politician and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made the announcement, emphasising Majhi’s standing as a tribal leader in the state’s coastline region.

Prominent Tribal Leader Takes the Helm

Four-time MLA Mohan Charan Majhi has been overwhelmingly selected to head the Odisha BJP Legislature Party. Majhi’s dynamic leadership is projected to guide Odisha towards growth and prosperity.

Dual Deputy Chief Ministers Appointed

In a historic move, the BJP has decided to appoint two Deputy Chief Ministers alongside Majhi. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will serve as his deputies, bringing their experience and leadership to the new state government. Singh extended his congratulations to both leaders, anticipating a strong governance team for Odisha.

A Promise of Change and Development

After his selection, Majhi addressed the media, promising to transform Odisha and fulfill the aspirations of its people. He acknowledged the end of a 24-year government and expressed his commitment to making Odisha the number one state in the country. Majhi’s victory in the Keonjhar Assembly seat, where he won by a margin of over 87,000 votes against BJD’s Mina Majhi and Congress’s Prativa Manjari Naik, underscores his strong electoral support.

BJP Legislature Party Meeting and Oath-Taking Ceremony

To determine the eventual leader of Odisha, Rajnath Singh and his Cabinet colleague Bhupender Yadav visited the BJP Legislature Party conference. June 12 at 5 p.m. is when Majhi and the other leaders are supposed to take the oath. Along with a number of dignitaries, Union Ministers, and chief ministers of states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to travel to Bhubaneswar for the event.
