Chhattisgarh: 2 sisters gang-raped during Raksha Bandhan Festivities

When two sisters were returning after celebrating Raksha Bandhan with one of the victims’ fiance, they were gang-raped in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The incident happened when ten attackers forcedly blocked their route and committed the horrible assault.

Three of the accused allegedly caught them when they were returning, according to the police. They were allegedly robbed of money and cell phones by the trio. The four motorcycles utilised by the other seven suspects to get there. The accused allegedly raped the two sisters after taking them to a remote location away from the main road in the meantime.

The male who was with the two girls was also severely assaulted physically.

Upon getting the information, police opened a case. Ten individuals were detained, including the son of a prominent BJP member in the area.

A number of the accused have a history of criminal activity, and one of the major suspects, Poonam Thakur, was just recently freed on bail in August 2023. Son of local BJP leader Laxmi Narayan Singh, Poonam Thakur.
