CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan Washes Feet of the Person Who was Urinated-upon, Says ‘I apologise’

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, met the tribal worker on whom a guy had urinated on Thursday. As a sign of respect, Shivraj Singh Chouhan bathed the labourer Dashmat Rawat‘s feet at his official residence.

Culprit Arrested as Video of Urination Incident Goes Viral

On the night in between Tuesday and Wednesday, Pravesh Shukla, the man who was seen on camera urinating on the labourer in Sidhi district, was taken into custody. An outcry was caused by a video of the conduct that went viral. Dashmat Rawat received an apology from the chief minister for the event. Shivraj Singh Chouhan‘s Twitter account posted images of him washing the laborer’s feet. Shivraj Singh Chouhan said to him “the poor is God and people are like God” to him.

For me, the poor is God and people are like God to me. Serving the people is equal to worshipping God. We believe that God resides in every human being. I was pained by the inhuman incident that happened with Dashmat Rawat. Respect and security is important for the poor,” he told news agency ANI. Dashmat Rawat was decorated by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who also covered him with a white shawl. He conversed with him as well. In order to plant a seedling, Shivraj Singh Chouhan brought Dashmat Rawat to the Smart City Park in Bhopal. The Chief Minister and the worker were seen executing the task together.

Chief Minister Expresses Shock and Pain, Vows to Visit Victim and Family

The Chief Minister stated on Wednesday that watching the video severely shocked and pained him before visiting the labourer. In Bhopal, he promised to meet the victim and his family. Pravesh Shukla was the subject of a FIR under the SC/ST Act, Sections 294 (Obscene Acts), and 504 (Intentional Insult to Provoke Breach of the Peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, the accused is facing charges under the National Security Act (NSA).
