CM Yogi Adityanath: Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, reaffirmed on Tuesday how criminals have been prosecuted in the state while it has been governed by his party. The chief minister added, 'Before 2017, the mafia dons and professional criminals would proudly wander on streets,' while speaking to a crowd in Unnao. 'Young people, ladies, and tradesmen were afraid to leave their homes. Markets had a forlorn appearance and shops used to close before dusk,' he said.

The chief minister recently received a death threat from an anonymous individual. In Lucknow, a case has been filed against the unnamed individual. Yogi Adityanath launched the urban body election campaign on Monday in Saharanpur, praising the state's law and order situation. He was reported by ANI as stating, "No Curfew- No Danga, UP mein sab changa (Curfews and riots are no longer common in Uttar Pradesh today, everything is fine)".

The Chief Minister went on to add that mafias and criminals were a thing of the past and that today, Uttar Pradesh represented security, prosperity, and jobs. Adityanath had made the statement "Rangdari na Firauti, Ab UP nahi hai kisi ki Bapauti" ('No extortions or kidnappings for ransom take place in the state and UP is no longer a family's heritage') in a covert assault on the previous Samajwadi Party government. Atiq Ahmad, a gangster-turned-politician, and his brother were killed in Prayagraj just a few days earlier, and Adityanath had said that the mafia can no longer harm residents of the state.
