Uttar Pradesh: The imam of a mosque in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad was arrested after he blocked a local in a saffron kurta from performing namaz. According to authorities, the imam humiliated the man in public.
Imam Faces Complaint for Allegedly Banning Saffron Attire at Mosque
Asif Ali, a resident of Farrukhabad's Shamshabad neighbourhood, filed a complaint against the imam. According to Asif Ali, the imam told him that the colour saffron represented Hinduism and that he should not wear it to the mosque.

Imam Charged with Criminal Intimidation After Alleged Saffron Attire Dispute
The complainant indicated that the mosque's imam was offended because of the hue of his kurta, to which Asif Ali objected and stated that Islam allows people to wear any colour. Following the complaint, the imam was charged under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (criminal intimidation). A police inquiry is currently underway.
