Delhi Budget 2023: On Wednesday, two days after the deadlock between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Union government over excessive spending allocations for marketing and promotions, Delhi Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot proposed a budget for Rs 78,800 crore.

Center has allocated Rs 325 crore to cover the state's portion of central taxes

Gahlot praised the Delhi style of governance and said that the AAP government had zero tolerance for corruption in his budget speech. Gahlot stated, "Rs 21,000 would be utilised to make Delhi clean, beautiful, and modern. The government's infrastructure initiatives, like as the recently opened Ashram flyover, have been praised by the finance minister and credited with ensuring efficient citywide transportation. Yamuna River cleanup is a priority, according to Gahlot, and the municipal administration would cooperate with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to clean up three major landfills in Delhi. According to him, the Center has allocated Rs 325 crore to cover the state's portion of central taxes during the last eight years.

Major schemes in the budget

  • 1,400 km of the PWD road network will be improved and made more beautiful.

Manish Sisodia is receiving the warmest greetings

Gahlot said in his address that he would have preferred if Manish Sisodia had delivered the budget. "If Manish Sisodia had given the budget presentation, I would have been more pleased. The Delhi budget for the fiscal year 2023–24 was intended to be presented on Tuesday, but the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) objected to the funding for infrastructure and advertisements at the last minute. It put the budget on hold and asked the Delhi government for more information.
