In a vibrant opening ceremony held at Talkatora Stadium today, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially inaugurated the Delhi Games 2025, marking the beginning of a multi-sport event aimed at promoting grassroots-level athletic talent across the national capital.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from young athletes representing various districts and schools. Also present at the inauguration was Ashish Sood, Delhi's Minister for Urban Development, Education & Training, who lauded the initiative as a platform for nurturing future sports icons.

Addressing the gathering, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized the role of sports in building discipline, leadership, and unity among youth. "Delhi Games is not just a competition—it's a celebration of the spirit of sportsmanship and community," she said.

The Delhi Games 2025 will feature a range of sporting events including athletics, wrestling, kabaddi, football, and more. The government has promised enhanced infrastructure, transparent selection, and a reward system for outstanding performers.

The opening ceremony featured cultural performances, flag marches by athletes, and a torch relay, setting the tone for the upcoming competitions scheduled over the next two weeks. 

The Delhi Games 2025 will feature a wide range of sporting events including athletics, wrestling, kabaddi, football, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton. Organizers said over 15,000 athletes are expected to participate over the next 15 days, making this edition the largest ever since the inception of the Delhi Games.

Minister Ashish Sood highlighted that the state government has significantly increased the sports budget and introduced scholarships and cash awards to motivate young players. He also mentioned that selected athletes will be given access to professional training camps, physiotherapy, and nutrition support.
