In a significant push to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure of the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to inaugurate 33 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the city on Saturday. The move is part of her government’s commitment to expand access to quality healthcare and affordable medicines.

Alongside the launch of these health centres, the CM will also inaugurate Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras at 15 government hospitals, aimed at improving access to affordable generic medicines for the public. The initiative is expected to reduce healthcare costs and ease the financial burden on citizens.

CM Rekha Gupta Will Personally Inaugurate One Facility

Out of the 33 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, CM Rekha Gupta will personally inaugurate one facility, while six others will be launched virtually. The remaining centres will be inaugurated by various cabinet ministers. The six ministers participating in the event include Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Home & Education Minister Ashish Sood, Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraraj Singh, and Culture & Arts Minister Kapil Mishra.

According to the Delhi Health Department, the newly inaugurated facilities include 29 Primary Health Centres and 4 Sub-Centres. These centres are already operational and managed by various government bodies, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and the Delhi Health Department.

Following the formation of the new government, CM Rekha Gupta had pledged to expand healthcare services through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. These centres are designed to offer a wider range of services than existing Mohalla Clinics, focusing on preventive care, cancer screening, immunisation, family planning, and rehabilitation.

While NAAT machines for tuberculosis testing are still being installed, alternative methods will continue to be used in the interim. Notably, instead of appointing community health officers like in many other states, the Delhi government has chosen to deploy MBBS-qualified doctors to ensure high medical standards at these centres.
