Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Vows Housing Dignity for Slum Dwellers, Aligns with PM Modi’s Vision

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Fatak Wali Jhuggi in Shalimar Bagh on Thursday, engaging directly with residents and reaffirming the state’s commitment to providing permanent and secure housing for slum dwellers. The visit aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ensuring dignified living conditions for all citizens, especially those residing in informal settlements.

Calling the housing initiative a symbol of social justice and dignity, Gupta noted, “The pledge taken by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to build permanent homes for slum residents is not just a development goal—it’s a step toward a life of stability and respect.”

Shift from Past Governance to Clear Policy Direction

Gupta took a firm stance against the inaction of previous administrations, stating, “For years, former governments lacked both clear policy and political will. But the situation has changed.”

She emphasized that under the current leadership, there is a clear roadmap and strong resolve to integrate marginalized communities into the urban mainstream by improving their living standards.

Commitment to Inclusive Development

The Delhi government, she said, is fully aligned with the Centre’s housing mission and is working to ensure that slum residents are not left behind. “Our priority is to connect these communities with development and provide every family with stability and dignity,” she added.

The visit is part of a broader outreach campaign to bridge the gap between slum rehabilitation efforts and community needs, ensuring that those living in informal housing have access to basic infrastructure, legal titles, and long-term housing security.
