Delhi Dehradun Expressway Near Completion
According to the National Highways Authority of India, most of the construction work on the expressway has already been completed. Only a few tasks, including the development of service roads and other finishing works at certain locations, are still pending. Officials have stated that the remaining work is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within the next 12 to 15 days.
Opening Expected Soon
The expressway stretches approximately 210 to 213 kilometres and has been developed at an estimated cost of around ₹12,000 crore. Once opened, it will strengthen road connectivity between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, making travel between these regions faster and more convenient.
At present, travelling from Delhi to Dehradun generally takes five to six hours depending on traffic conditions. However, the new expressway is expected to cut the travel time by almost half, allowing vehicles to complete the journey in roughly two and a half to three hours. This is expected to benefit daily commuters, tourists and transport services.
Officials also stated that preparations are underway to implement toll collection on the expressway. However, certain categories of vehicles, including emergency services and specific government-authorized vehicles, may be exempt from paying toll charges as per national highway regulations.
Once operational, the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway is expected to improve regional connectivity, boost tourism in Uttarakhand, and facilitate smoother transportation of goods and passengers. Authorities believe the project will play an important role in enhancing infrastructure and economic activity in the region.
