The Delhi government has released a Rs 400 crore budget for MCD-run schools, Education Minister Atish said on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference, she stated that Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) aims to improve the education quality for nine lakh students registered in MCD-run schools.

Main aim is to make MCD schools better
The AAP leader highlighted the importance of education and said that the aim is to make MCD schools better.
"Education has always been the priority of the Delhi government. It has always allocated a major chunk of the budget for education.
The minister added, "MCD funds have been increased to Rs 1700 crore and today we are releasing Rs 400 crore." Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi noted that the AAP dispensation in the city government has always focused on education, following the ideologies of Dr BR Ambedkar.
"MCD schools need a lot of development in infrastructure and manpower. To ensure these issues are addressed, the Delhi government has allocated a huge budget to the MCD schools," she said.
Shelly Oberoi says the budget to help 1500 MCD schools
MCD mayor Shelly Oberoi said the funds allocated by the AAP government will help 1500 schools with a teacher strength of 1900. She further added that the MCD schools are struggling with various challenges such as adequate infrastructure, lack of drinking water facilities, and the severe shortage of manpower.
