In response to a delay by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in clearing files related to judicial infrastructure, Delhi Law Minister Kailash Gahlot has been relieved of his portfolio and allocated the Women and Child Development Department. This move comes a day after Delhi LG VK Saxena recalled files pertaining to the judicial system due to delays by the law minister. The Chief Minister's Office recommended the assignment of the law ministry to Atishi, a decision approved by LG VK Saxena.
Delhi Law Minister Kailash Gahlot Relieved of Portfolio Amidst Administrative Concerns
Atishi, who already oversees 14 portfolios, including Law and Justice, now shoulders the responsibility of streamlining the judicial administration system in the city. This decision comes after the LG expressed concern about the significant backlog of files and delays in decision-making, emphasizing the impact on the administration of justice in the capital.
Earlier in October, Atishi was also given charge of the water department, further expanding her responsibilities within the Kejriwal government. This reallocation underscores the government's commitment to expeditious justice delivery and administrative efficiency.
