Delhi Women Commission: The Delhi Women Commission has sacked 223 staffers effective immediately. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena of Delhi has ordered this action to be done. It is claimed that she was recruited against the rules by Swati Maliwal, the former chairman of the Delhi Women Commission, without her consent.

Limits on Commission Positions

According to the Delhi LG’s directive, which cites the DCW Act, the commission has only 40 approved positions. It is not permitted for Delhi Mahila Aayog to hire workers on a contract basis. It has also been stated in the ruling issued by the increased Director of the Delhi Women’s Commission that neither approval for increased financial burden nor an evaluation of important roles was obtained prior to new appointments. Based on the investigation report that was delivered to the Lieutenant Governor in February of 2017, this action has been taken.

Irregular Hiring of 223 Contract Workers

The investigation committee discovered that 223 hiring decisions made under contract were made without following the regulations. In accordance with the guidelines, DCW’s appointment of contract workers was irregular.

The Honorable LG’s approval was not obtained, and the procedure was not followed. Furthermore, this significant move was performed in contravention of established protocols and without sufficient explanation for the pay and allowance increases of DCW personnel.

Swati Maliwal’s Move to Rajya Sabha

The Delhi Women Commission’s former chair person is Swati Maliwal. It was decided to send her to the Rajya Sabha on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party in January. Following that, the Delhi Women Commission’s Chairman position becomes open. There are claims that these hiring practices were carried out in violation of the law while Swati Maliwal was the chair person.
