The Delhi NCR Rain Alert is signalling an alarm with the Yamuna River that is flowing over the danger level due to heavy and continuous rains. The level of water rose steeply, raising the possibility of flooding in the neighborhoods that are at a lower level. A 24-hour team was deployed by the officials in charge of river surveillance, while the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was prepared for action. People living in areas where the river could burst have already been warned and notified that their move can be compulsory if water continues to rise.
Schools Closed In Noida And Ghaziabad
Because of the critical condition, administrations in Noida and Ghaziabad unilaterally decided that schools should close until further notice. Authorities clarified that heavy rain and water accumulating on the streets posed dangers not only to children but also to school staff. Parents were advised to stay connected to the official sources for the timing of the reopening. After weighing up storm forecasts and reality, this decision was made, which indicated that going to school in these districts would be dangerous.
Waterlogged In Different Parts
The incessant downpours left the water accumulating on the streets in most parts of the Delhi NCR. Housing societies, markets, and crosswalks were covered with water, which was a problem for community members. To get the water down, civic bodies have employed water pumps and drainage machines. In spite of implementing the measures, there had been severe disruptions in those parts of East Delhi, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad where the flooding continued.
Traffic Congestion Has Gripped The Area
In addition to the overflowing of rivers, those who travel by car in the Delhi NCR had to endure long traffic jams. The normally busy connecting routes, including the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway, NH-24, and arterial roads, were clogged with cars jammed on the submerged stretches. Delhi Traffic Police suggested that people follow their advice – not to travel early, or at times when the traffic is too heavy, or else use metro services. But the problem was further compounded by cars that broke down due to water, in which some drivers were trapped for a long time.
