Delhi News: Senior BJP leader Rekha Gupta has announced that 3,330 new electric buses will soon be added to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet, marking a major boost to the capital’s public transport system.
Sharing the update on social media, Rekha Gupta said the new fleet will also include 7-metre-long mini electric buses, specially designed to navigate narrow lanes and inner residential areas of Delhi, where large buses often struggle to operate.
Better Connectivity for Inner Areas
According to Gupta, the introduction of mini e-buses will ensure that public transport reaches congested colonies and narrow streets, improving last-mile connectivity for thousands of commuters. This move is expected to reduce dependence on private vehicles in densely populated localities.
Focus on Zero Emission Transport
The new electric buses will operate on a zero-emission model, significantly contributing to pollution control in Delhi. Rekha Gupta emphasized that reducing air pollution while strengthening public transport remains a key priority for the government.
Modern Facilities and Comfortable Travel
Officials said the upcoming electric buses will be equipped with modern amenities, offering passengers a smoother, quieter, and more comfortable travel experience. The initiative aims to make daily commuting more convenient and environmentally friendly.
Step Towards a Cleaner Delhi
Rekha Gupta described the decision as an important step towards building a clean, accessible, and sustainable Delhi. She added that the expansion of the e-bus fleet reflects the government’s commitment to balancing connectivity and environmental responsibility.
With the addition of 3,330 electric buses, Delhi is expected to witness improved public transport coverage, lower carbon emissions, and better mobility options for residents across the city.
