Delhi Tunnel Heist: After a deliveryman and his companion were held up at gunpoint and robbed of 50 lakh within the Pragati Maidan tunnel in Delhi on Saturday, seven individuals have been detained. In order to transfer the money to a business associate in Gurugram, Omiya Enterprises delivery agent Patel Sajan Kumar and his companion Jigar Patel were travelling there when they were robbed. A surveillance camera set up in the tunnel captured the daylight robbery.

Suspects Tracked Deliveryman for Days and Conducted Pre-Heist Surveillance

The suspects, according to the police, had been pursuing Patel Sajan Kumar for the previous three days, and they had conducted reconnaissance on Thursday and Friday. In a recent video, the primary robbery conspirator can be seen stalking Patel Sajan Kumar around his Chandi Chowk workplace. In the video, Usman can be seen following Kumar as he exits his office on a Saturday with a bag full of cash before getting into a taxi to travel to Gurgaon. Four men on two motorcycles are seen waylaying the taxi as it approaches the Ring Road tunnel in CCTV footage of the robbery that was released by the police earlier this week. The two armed thieves who were riding as passengers dismount their motorcycles. While the other one retrieves the cash bag from the backseat, one of them is seen pointing a gun at the two men in the taxi. Then they leave the area.

Police Crackdown on Three Gangs Involved in Daring Delhi Tunnel Heist

According to sources, the spectacular robbery that took place in the centre of Delhi featured three separate groups. Before apprehending the seven guys, police allegedly conducted searches across Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, holding up to 1,600 people in prison. The 1.5 mile tunnel, which links New Delhi with Sarai Kale Khan and Noida, is guarded by about 16 security personnel. Police had stated that security personnel were present at the tunnel’s entrance and exit points when the incident took place.
