As monsoon clouds continue to hover over Delhi-NCR, the region has been experiencing intense and persistent rainfall since the early hours of Monday, leading to significant traffic snarls and delayed transportation services. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued downpours across the National Capital Region, raising concerns about waterlogging and low visibility across key routes, including the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
In light of the inclement weather, major airlines operating from Delhi have issued travel advisories urging passengers to plan their journeys with extra time and caution.
Indigo Issues Advisory
In a tweet on Monday, IndiGo Airlines alerted flyers:
“ A Rainy Day Reminder: With heavy rainfall expected over #Delhi, we’re seeing a chance of delays and slower traffic to and from the airport. While we can’t control the skies, we’re doing everything possible to keep your journey steady on the ground.”
The airline advised passengers to check their flight status before leaving home and allow extra time to reach the airport. It reassured travelers that staff would be available on-ground and online to offer assistance.
Air India Also Warns of Disruptions
Following suit, Air India also shared a travel alert across social platforms.
“Due to persistent rainfall in Delhi-NCR, some flights may be delayed. Passengers are requested to check their flight status on our website or app and reach the airport well in advance to avoid inconvenience.”
Both carriers emphasized that the safety and comfort of passengers remain their top priority, and operations teams are coordinating closely with airport authorities to manage any disruptions caused by the weather.
IMD Alert: More Rain Expected
The IMD has placed Delhi-NCR under a yellow alert for the next 48 hours. Officials have warned of moderate to heavy rain, gusty winds, and possible thunderstorms. Commuters have been advised to avoid low-lying flood-prone areas and stay updated with local traffic and weather bulletins.
Travel Tips for Flyers
Check real-time flight status on airline websites or apps.
Leave for the airport at least 1.5 to 2 hours earlier than usual.
Carry umbrellas and weather-appropriate gear.
Stay connected with airline helplines for rebooking or assistance.
With skies still overcast and more showers on the radar, authorities and airlines are on high alert to ensure minimum disruption to passenger plans. Travelers are advised to stay alert and exercise patience as the city navigates through another round of monsoon fury.
