DGP Gaurav Yadav leads from front as Punjab Police launch statewide 'OPS Vigil'

Amritsar police is now in action mode after two blasts near Golden Temple. Amritsar Police has launched Operation Vigil to crack down on criminals in the district. Amritsar Police is now all set to break the network of gangsters and drug peddlers in the district.

This can be gauged from the fact that immediately after the blast near the Golden Temple, ADGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla issued special guidelines to the police officers of the district. Police personnel conducted a special checking operation at Guru Ramdas International Airport under the leadership of ADG Anita Punj.

ADGP gave special guidelines

On the guidelines of ADGP Law and Order, the police station in-charge along with their team conducted vigil operation across the city. It is noteworthy that in the last few months, there has been a significant increase in the incidents of gangsterism, drug smuggling and looting in Amritsar district. Because of this, there is a lot of panic and fear among the people. Criminals fearlessly roam around with weapons and loot and run away.

Panic in the entire state after the blast

At the same time, there is panic in the entire state due to the blasts on Amritsar's Heritage Street late Saturday night and Monday morning. There was a sizeable crowd on Heritage Street when the blasts took place. Thankfully, these blasts were of low intensity. Only one or two vehicles parked nearby were damaged. However, these blasts exposed the security system of the police.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said that Operation Vigil is a multi-layered checking and area raids are being conducted across the state. Talking to reporters in Ludhiana, Yadav said that officers of the rank of Additional Director General of Police, Inspector General and others are monitoring the operation.
