DMRC reminds commuters of dress code etiquette after girl’s bikini video goes viral

Delhi Metro: The Delhi Metro occasionally leaks images of people acting strangely. On social media, a video purporting to show a woman riding in a Delhi Metro coach in “short clothes” is making the rounds. The woman is shown sitting inside a metro coach with several female passengers in “short clothes” in a social media video that has gone viral. Afterwards, the woman stands up and departs. “DMRC expects its riders to respect all social etiquettes and procedures that are acceptable in the society,” the Delhi Metro stated in a statement on Monday.

Offense punishable under section 59

According to the statement, “commuters should not indulge in any activity or wear any clothing that may hurt the sensibilities of other commuters.” Lists it as an offense punishable under section 59. “We appeal to all our passengers to kindly maintain decorum when travelling in public transportation systems like the Metro,” the DMRC stated in a statement. Passengers are required to self-regulate their behaviour in a reasonable manner, however matters like wardrobe choice when travelling remain a personal matter.

Action on this was also being demanded by some

This video was catching on like a wildfire. Both those who took it and those who criticised it did so in large numbers. Even the women were taken aback by how she was dressed. On social media, it received a lot of teasing. Action on this was also being demanded by some. The Delhi Metro’s rules were being reminded by people. Urfi Javed’s attire was being contrasted with hers.
