Tejashwi Yadav: In conjunction with a money laundering investigation into an alleged “land-for-jobs” scam, the enforcement directorate (ED) on Friday conducted 24 raids across the national capital region (NCR), Patna, Ranchi, and Mumbai, including Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in Delhi.

CBI Questions Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi about the Irregular Appointments

“The raids are being performed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to gather evidence,” according to people with knowledge of the incident. The central bureau of inquiry (CBI) questioned Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi about the matter earlier this week on Tuesday in Delhi and Wednesday in Patna, respectively.

Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav’s Residence Searched in Connection with the Scam

When asked about his parents’ interrogation, Tejashwi had stated on Monday that his family’s steadfast opposition to the Bharatiya Janata Party was the cause of the CBI action (BJP).
The RJD leader had earlier told reporters outside the Bihar assembly that it was “an open secret” that investigation agencies were supporting individuals who agreed to align with the BJP while acting against those who opposed it politically.

The Alleged Payment of Bribes in the Form of Land

In September 2021, the CBI opened a preliminary investigation (PE), which served as a precursor to the filing of an official complaint (FIR), into claims that a number of individuals were improperly appointed as replacements in Group D positions in various Indian Railways zones between 2004 and 2009 in exchange for land by unidentified public employees. Group D describes the lowest-paying, most basic railroad occupations.

CBI Charge Sheet Filed Against 16 Individuals

Depending on the position you receive, the task will involve maintaining rails, railway coaches, departments, and stores, among other things. On May 18 of last year, the CBI filed a FIR in the case, naming Yadav, Rabri Devi, and their two daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav in addition to unidentified government employees. At that time, it had also carried out 16 raids, including on Lalu and Misa’s homes. It is claimed that between 2004 and 2009, when Prasad served as railway minister, 12 irregular candidate appointments were made in the central railways, in violation of the recruitment policies and processes of the Indian Railways. There was no public notice or advertisement for the appointment, but a few Patna locals were given temporary positions in several zonal railroads in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hazipur.

Nonetheless, the CBI estimates that the present worth of the entire parcel of land to be about 4.39 crore. In October 2022, the agency already submitted a charge sheet against 16 people, including Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Misa Bharti. On March 15, they were summoned by a Delhi court.
