Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, has promised big changes to the way education works. The budget for education will go up by a record amount, and the pay for key school support staff will double. These steps, which have been taken as part of ongoing improvements since 2005, are meant to make Bihar's education system stronger and honour the important roles that school workers who aren't teachers play.

Record Budget Boost for Education Since 2005

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that since his government took office in November 2005, people have been working hard to make Bihar's schools better. From ₹4,366 crore in 2005 to ₹77,690 crore in 2025, the spending for education has grown by a huge amount. This budget growth that has never been seen before has made it possible to hire a lot of teachers, build new school buildings, and improve basic services. All of these things have led to a big improvement in the state's education system.

Increasing school support staff pay by twice as much

The government has chosen to double the monthly pay of cooks, night watchmen, and physical education and health instructors because they play such an important role in keeping schools running smoothly and making sure students are healthy. As of the new pay scale, cooks who work for the noon meal program will get ₹3,300 a month instead of ₹1,650.

  • Secondary and higher secondary school night watchmen will now get ₹10,000 a month, up from ₹5,000.

  • The pay for health and physical education teachers will go up from ₹8,000 to ₹16,000.

  • The workers' annual raise in pay has also been increased from 200 rupees to 400 rupees to further boost morale and motivation.

Effects on Staff Morale and the Quality of Education

This raise in honorariums is meant to help the support staff's finances and make them happier with their jobs, which will motivate them to do their jobs with more enthusiasm and commitment. CM Nitish Kumar said that these workers have been very important in making the school system stronger over the years and that they deserve this well-deserved pay raise.

A smart move ahead of the upcoming assembly elections

The news comes as the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections are being planned. It shows that the government is committed to both education and welfare measures that help people who work directly in the education sector. This brave move shows that the government is serious about making Bihar a better place for all kids to learn, which will help millions of them.

More widespread changes in education

Along with raising salaries, the government has increased the hiring of teachers, made schools better, and made it easier for students to get educational materials. The goal is to improve the whole sector. All of these steps are meant to make learning better and more successful for Bihar's growing number of students.

Overall, Bihar's CM Nitish Kumar's education changes include a historic budgetary investment and real welfare measures for school staff. They show that the state will continue to work toward improving education.
