As the shockwaves from the Red Fort blast continue to reverberate across Delhi, eyewitnesses have begun recounting the horrifying moments that followed the explosion near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station.
Eyewitness Describes Horror As Red Fort Blast Rocks Delhi
“I never heard such a loud explosion ever in my life. I fell three times due to the explosion. It felt as if we were all going to die,” said a local shopkeeper, visibly shaken while speaking to ANI.
The powerful blast, which ripped through a Hyundai i20 car around 6:52 PM, left 13 people dead and over two dozen injured. The explosion was so intense that windows of nearby shops shattered, and several vehicles were engulfed in flames within seconds.
ANI reported that “multiple casualties have been brought to the LNJP hospital due to the blast near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station. Several people have been injured in the incident.”

Rescue teams, including firefighters, Delhi Police, and NDRF personnel, rushed to the spot to control the blaze and help victims. The area, which is usually crowded with tourists and local commuters, was turned into a scene of devastation — with mangled cars, broken glass, and scattered belongings strewn across the road.
The Delhi Police, NIA, and NSG are currently investigating the cause of the explosion, with officials not ruling out a terror angle. Forensic experts have sealed the blast site for evidence collection as hospitals continue to receive the injured.
The blast has triggered nationwide concern, with security being intensified across major cities.
