Ganga Water Shortage Alert! Ghaziabad-Noida to Face Supply Disruption From Tonight Due to THIS Reason

As the Ganga canal cleaning begins tonight and affects thousands in the area, get ready for disruptions to the water supply in Ghaziabad and Noida. Keep yourself updated on the situation's management strategy by local authorities.

Ghaziabad News: Beginning on Tuesday, the Ganga water supply in Ghaziabad and Noida will be interrupted. As a result, thousands of people will not have access to water, and issues may arise. The supply of water to Ganganahar from Haridwar would cease as of today. Nonetheless, the local government in Noida and Ghaziabad has said that they will not let any interruptions to the supply.

Ganganahar Canal Closure in Ghaziabad-Noida to Last 18 Days

On October 24, the night of the event, Ganganahar will be closed. There will be cleaning for roughly eighteen days. On November 12th, this canal will subsequently begin to operate. The Ganga water facility is situated in Ghaziabad’s Pratap Vihar. From here, a pipeline delivers 50 cubic feet of water to several locations throughout Ghaziabad and 100 cubic feet of water to Noida. This water will not be available while the canal is closed. Every year, canal cleaning is a standard procedure. In order to preserve the water flow, all of the equipment and regulators attached to the canal are cleaned throughout this process.

How Ghaziabad Manages Supply with Tube Wells and Tankers

Five cusecs are given to Siddharth Vihar, twenty-three cusecs to the Vasundhara zone, fifteen cusecs to Indirapuram, and seven cusecs to the areas surrounding Indirapuram out of the fifty cusecs that make up Ghaziabad. In Ghaziabad, there are 26 tube wells owned by the Ghaziabad Development Authority and 125 tube wells owned by the Municipal Corporation. These will provide water once every day. In addition, both agencies own a few tankers that they want to deploy for water delivery.

Supply Shortfall Looms with Reduced Ganga Water Availability

If we talk about Noida, then 240 MLD Ganga water is used to meet the requirement of 400 MLD of Noida. On normal days, about 200 MLD of Ganga water is available. In such a situation, 200 MLD is supplied from ground water. Even after running the tube at full capacity, there will be a shortage of about 60 MLD water due to lack of supply of Ganga water. Noida Authority has also issued proper numbers for this on which people can call and get a tanker.
