Ghaziabad News: According to officials on Tuesday, the cost of registering a pet with GMC will increase five times starting on April 1 from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000. They claimed that the decision will incentivize pet owners to register their animals with the company as soon as possible.
Mandatory Registration Takes Effect
Since the registration procedure became mandatory in 2022, 5,925 pets have registered with the local government. Singh also mentioned the Rs 5,000 charge for failing to register a pet. A policy that stated a pet owner may not retain more than four dogs was introduced by GMC last year. Also, it stated that a private home measuring 182 square metres may accommodate up to two dogs and 273 square metres, up to four dogs.
Ghaziabad Implements Muzzle Mandate in Public Spaces
Other regulations required dogs to wear muzzles in parks, elevators and other public locations, with certain summertime exceptions. Criticism centred on the policy's violation of laws set forth by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), which state that no flat owners' organisation (AOA) or RWA has the authority to compel a pet owner to use a muzzle.
