Nithin Raj R.L., a 22-year-old BDS student, died after falling from a building at Anjarakandy Dental College in Kannur. He was found badly hurt near the medical college block on April 10, 2026. He had apparently fallen from a five-story building.

He was rushed to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries. Family, friends, and neighbours all came to Puthukulangara, Thiruvananthapuram, for his funeral to say their last goodbyes.
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita says that the police are looking into the death as a possible suicide and have opened a case of unnatural death. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage, speaking with students and faculty, and putting together a timeline of events that led up to the autumn.
Officials have said that they are looking into all sides of the story and that more information will come to light as the investigation goes on.
The family makes serious accusations
Nithin’s family has questions about how he died. They say that a teacher had been verbally and mentally abusing him for a long time. They say he was made fun of because of his caste, skin colour, and schoolwork. They even threatened him with bad grades and tests.
His sister also said that the way the tests were scheduled made things more stressful. Audio clips that have been posted online have made the claims even stronger.
The police and college respond
The dental college has denied the harassment claims and formed an internal committee to look into the matter. The police are still looking into the matter, and Kerala’s human rights group has also requested a full report.
As the investigation goes on, the case has made people more worried about the safety of students, the responsibility of schools, and the mental health support that schools offer.
