HAM Radio Teams Deployed for Uninterrupted Information Exchange

Authorities have turned to HAM radio for a smooth exchange of information as severe cyclone Biparjoy, with wind gusts up to 140 kilometres per hour, threatens to disrupt communication networks after landfall on the Gujarat coast on Thursday evening. In order to ensure smooth communication once Biparjoy strikes the beach near Jakhau port, the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) has sent six HAM radio teams, two of which are in Kutch. In times of emergency when wirelines, cell phones, and other conventional terrestrial modes of communication are inoperable, HAM radio is regarded as a dependable mode of communications.
