More on the incident
Around 10:30 a.m., Radhika and her father, 49-year-old Deepak Yadav, got into a heated argument over a social media reel that Radhika had made. Deepak reportedly got mad at her for sharing reels so much that he pulled out his licensed.32-caliber revolver and fired several shots from the kitchen on the first floor of their home in Sushant Lok Phase II. The police say that Deepak shot three deadly rounds, all of which hit Radhika.
When her family rushed her to a nearby private hospital, emergency services were called right away. Radhika died from her injuries before medical teams could calm her.
Police arrest and look into
Deepak Yadav was arrested by the cops in Gurugram soon after the shooting. The gun, a legal handgun, was found at the scene of the crime. Rajender Kumar, Station House Officer at Sector 56 Police Station, said that the murder case has been filed and is now being looked into. The police are waiting for a forensic study of the gun and are doing a psychological evaluation of Deepak to find out what he was thinking when he shot the person.
Public Relations Officer Sandeep Kumar said that the fight started because of an argument over a social media reel. This confirmed that the fight started because of anger over Radhika's Instagram activities.
About the Victim
Radhika Yadav, who was born on March 23, 2000, had already made a name for herself as a skilled doubles player by playing for Haryana in state and national events. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) placed her 113th in doubles and in the top 200 players in the world. Former coach Manoj Bhardwaj was very sad about the loss. He called it "a huge loss" to the sports community and said it was sad that her focus, discipline, and ability were taken away.
Community Response and Expectations
The event has left people in Sushant Lok feeling very upset. Neighbors said the Yadav family was calm and close, but they didn't know that there was such serious family conflict. Community leaders want more people to know about how generational differences and internet use can make family arguments worse.
India's gun licenses are being looked at more closely, and people are being asked to be more responsible on social media because of this case. In a fit of anger, a young athlete with a lot of potential is killed, and a family is crushed.
