Former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa and Wife Booked in Son’s Alleged Murder Case

Aqil had accused his father and wife of having an affair and expressed fear that his family was plotting against him.

In a shocking development, Haryana Police have booked former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Mustafa and his wife, former Punjab minister Razia Sultana, in connection with the alleged murder of their 35-year-old son, Aqil Akhtar, in Panchkula. The case has sent ripples across both Punjab and Haryana’s political and administrative circles.

Social Media Post Raises Serious Allegations

The case took a disturbing turn when Shamshudeen Chaudhary, a family acquaintance from Malerkotla, held a press conference highlighting Aqil’s social media post from August, in which the deceased made explosive allegations against his family. Aqil had accused his father and wife of having an affair and expressed fear that his family was plotting against him.

“I have discovered my wife’s affair with my dad. I am under extreme stress and mental trauma,” Aqil had written. He went on to claim that his family was planning to frame him in a false case or get him killed.

‘They Will Get Me Framed or Killed,’ Aqil Alleged

According to reports, Aqil had also recorded several videos before his death, where he reiterated his fears. “Their plan is to have me falsely imprisoned or have me killed,” he said, referring to his father, mother, and sister. He further alleged that he was kept in illegal confinement despite not being intoxicated, adding that his family had threatened to implicate him in a rape or murder case if he took any action against them.

Prominent Background of the Family

Mohammad Mustafa, a 1985-batch IPS officer, has served as Punjab’s DGP (Human Rights Commission) and is known for his long tenure in law enforcement. His wife, Razia Sultana, was a minister in the previous Congress government in Punjab. The couple has been influential in political and administrative circles for decades.

Investigation Underway

Police sources confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Aqil’s death and the veracity of the allegations made by him. The case is being closely monitored due to the involvement of high-profile individuals.

Authorities have yet to release a detailed statement, but officials have assured that no one will be above the law, and all evidence — including Aqil’s posts, video recordings, and witness testimonies — will be examined thoroughly.
