Gurugram News: A department review was held in Gurugram for assessing and strengthening the Yamuna Action Plan's implementation.

Gurugram News: On January 3, a high-level department review was held in Gurugram for assessing and strengthening the Yamuna Action Plan’s implementation. The review was performed with a focus on pollution control measures across Jhajjar and Gurugram districts.

In Gurugram, the meeting was held at the PWD Rest House and chaired at Yogesh Kumar, member secretary of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board. The officials reviewed action plans with a focus on making important drains pollution free, including legs 1, 2 and 3 of Gurugram’s Badshahpur drain and drain no. 8 and the Mungeshpur drain in Jhajjar district.

Kumar asked all concerned departments to submit progress reports before directing them to strictly implement the approved measures within the prescribed timelines.

What Were The Discussed Issues?

The key issues that were discussed in the review meeting included Yamuna River cleanliness, illegal dumping of waste, functioning of sewage treatment plants (STPs), sewerage management and solid waste management. He called the illegal discharge of sewer waste into open areas and drains by tanker operators as a grave violation of environmental norms and the law.
