Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini-led government has approved a ₹43.35 crore project to upgrade the Old Delhi Road in Hisar, with the existing four-lane stretch from Tulsi Chowk to Sirsa Chungi set to be widened into a six-lane road. The project aims to improve traffic movement, reduce congestion and provide safer access for commuters and pedestrians.
DON'T MISS
According to the report by KhabarFast, the state government has granted administrative approval of ₹43,35,48,000 for the road expansion. Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa has taken the initiative forward as part of the state’s efforts to strengthen urban road infrastructure.
Dedicated Footpaths and Pedestrian Crossings Planned: Haryana
The project is expected to include facilities for pedestrians and cyclists alongside improvements for vehicular traffic. Two-metre-wide footpaths will be developed on both sides of the road, along with service lanes.
Table-top pedestrian crossings will also be constructed at designated locations to make road crossing safer and more convenient. Bollards will be installed to improve pedestrian safety and prevent vehicles from occupying designated footpath areas.
The plan also includes reflective thermoplastic road markings of 300 mm and 200 mm to improve visibility, particularly during night-time travel. These measures are intended to make the upgraded road more accessible to pedestrians and other road users.
One-Way Flyover Proposed Near Sirsa Chungi
Another important component of the traffic improvement plan is a proposed one-way highway flyover near Sirsa Chungi. It is intended to facilitate traffic travelling towards Agroha and Sirsa, allowing vehicles to bypass some of the congested stretches below.
The proposed flyover is expected to reduce pressure on connecting roads and help ease traffic congestion around the junction. Together with the six-lane expansion, the infrastructure improvements aim to improve traffic flow along one of Hisar’s important urban routes.
