Relief for Haryana Farmers as Night-time Electricity Supply for Tubewells Extended

Haryana Violence

In response to the challenges faced by farmers due to the severe cold in Haryana, the government has made a significant decision to provide relief. The new decision allows farmers to irrigate their fields during the daytime, eliminating the need for nighttime visits to the fields. The revised electricity supply schedule for tubewells will facilitate better crop management.

Daytime Electricity Supply for Tubewells

In districts such as Karnal, Kaithal, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Sonipat, and Jind, electricity for tubewells will be provided from 5 AM to 2 PM. For the remaining districts, electricity supply for tubewells will be available from 10 AM to 6 PM. This adjustment aims to assist farmers in irrigating their fields during daylight hours, offering relief from the challenges posed by the cold.

Schedule in Effect Until January 31, 2023

The new electricity supply schedule will be effective until January 31, 2023. After this period, the schedule will undergo a review, and if necessary, further adjustments may be made. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the difficulties faced by farmers during the ongoing winter season.

Chief Minister’s Initiative for Farmer Relief

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar emphasized that the decision was prompted by the increasing cold and the government’s desire to alleviate the challenges faced by farmers. The modification in the electricity supply schedule for tubewells is expected to lessen the difficulties for farmers, allowing them to engage in daytime crop irrigation.
