Weather Update January 16 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and several parts of Jammu & Kashmir.

Weather Update January 16 2026: Severe cold conditions are likely to persist in North Indian states, including Delhi NCR. Snowfall is likely in the mountainous areas of Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Weather Update January 16 2026-Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and several parts of Jammu & Kashmir. Western Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Rajasthan are also likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. Light to moderate rain is also likely in Lakshadweep.

Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal and Kaithal are likely to face intense cold and extreme weather conditions.

Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Hastinapur, Saharanpur and Meerut may notice unprecedented, bone-chilling cold waves. A high sense of care should be observed by commuters driving through Yamuna Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Isolated regions in Western Himalayan Region Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit Baltistan-Muzaffarabad as well as Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are likely to receive fresh snowfall and heavy rainfall.

Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam

The states of Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam may experience dense to very dense fog, especially during early morning hours and late evening and night hours.

West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha

A warning has been issued for Bihar and adjoining areas of dense to very dense fog. Visibility is likely to drop to zero in Pantnagar and Udhampur.

Southern States, Puducherry and Daman & Diu

The withdrawal of Northeast Monsoon rains is likely over Puducherry, Karaikal and Tamil Nadu. Yanam, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe and South Interior Karnataka may receive low to moderate rainfall.
