Weather Update January 8 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cold and chilling waves to continue in the Northern states of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
It also predicts rainfall alert for southern states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Weather Update January 8 2026-Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan
IMD predicts that isolated regions in parts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Hastinapur, Saharanpur and Meerut are likely to stay struggling with thick and dense fog. Many adjoining areas are also likely to experience cold waves, especially during the early morning and late evening hours.
Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
Several regions in Western Himalayan Region Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit Baltistan-Muzaffarabad are likely to experience fresh snowfall. The trend is likely to continue till January 14. In Uttarakhand, people are not likely to get any form of respite from bone-chilling cold and snowfall. Himachal Pradesh districts are also likely to experience cold waves.
Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam
The north-eastern states of Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam may face thick, dense fog that can disrupt the smooth movement of vehicles and residents.
West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha
Bhopal, Jabalpur, Bijnor, Varanasi, Ranchi and Dhanbad are likely to experience chilling cold and thick fog, especially during early morning hours.
Southern States, Puducherry and Daman & Diu
Southern states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day.
Maharashtra and Goa
Several parts in Maharashtra and Goa are likely to experience moderate cold and slight rainfall.
