Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed deep grief over the death of senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Sudivya Kumar Sonu, describing his passing as a deeply personal loss.

In a post shared on social media on September 6, Soren said he received the news of Sonu’s death late at night and described it as extremely difficult to accept. He said Sonu was not merely a senior colleague or political associate but was like an elder brother who provided affection, guidance and support during difficult times.

Soren recalled the time he spent with Sonu and said the lessons and memories associated with him would remain with him. He also remembered Sonu’s longstanding association with the Jharkhand movement and his commitment to the cause of the state.

According to Soren, Sonu had stood firmly alongside the late Dishaom Guru Shibu Soren during the Jharkhand movement. He described Sonu as a dedicated JMM worker who devoted his life to the struggle for Jharkhand’s identity, rights and self-respect.

Soren Calls Sonu’s Death a Personal Loss

Reflecting on the loss, Soren spoke about the uncertainty and fragility of life. He said that a voice that was present among people until recently had now become a memory.

The Chief Minister said Sonu’s absence would always be felt and that he would carry forward the memory of his affection, struggles and commitment to Jharkhand throughout his life.

Soren’s message highlighted the political and personal relationship he shared with the JMM leader, portraying Sonu as someone whose contribution went beyond his role as a political colleague.
