Himachal Viral Video: Heavy Rain Triggers Cloudbursts, Landslides in HP; Chandigarh-Manali Highway Shut, IMD Issues Alert

A viral video from Himachal Pradesh shows the devastation caused by heavy rainfall, which triggered cloudbursts and landslides across the state. The Chandigarh-Manali Highway has been closed due to debris, leaving tourists and locals stranded.

Himachal Viral Video: Himachal Pradesh is once again dealing with the wrath of nature. Heavy rain has caused multiple cloudbursts and floods that have caused widespread problems across the hill state. A video from the area that went viral showed how bad the damage was, which made people in the area, tourists, and the government all worried.

Landslides closed the highway between Chandigarh and Manali

Landslides blocked several stretches of the Chandigarh-Manali Highway, which is a lifeline for both locals and tourists going to Himachal’s famous tourist spots. All traffic has stopped, leaving hundreds of people stuck while officials work around the clock to clear the mess. The state’s Public Works Department has sent big equipment to areas that need it most, but the constant rain is making it hard to help people.

IMD Sends Out New Weather Alert

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has sent out a new alert for Himachal Pradesh, saying that several areas, such as Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, and Chamba, will experience heavy to very heavy rain. Authorities have told people, especially those who live or are visiting areas that are likely to experience landslides, to stay home and not drive unless they have to.

Rescue and relief efforts are already underway

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other emergency reaction teams have been sent to help with evacuations and rescue operations. Local governments have set up control rooms and helplines to keep travellers informed and help those who are stuck. Schools in some districts have also been closed as a precautionary measure.

Climate change is linked by experts to more disasters

This year’s monsoon has been particularly harsh on Himachal Pradesh, which has already witnessed significant loss of life and property in recent weeks due to recurring natural disasters. Deforestation, unplanned building, and climate change are some of the reasons why these kinds of accidents are happening more often, according to experts.

Tourists are being told to change their travel plans

Meanwhile, tourists who had planned visits to Manali, Kullu, and nearby destinations have been asked to postpone their travel until the situation improves. Hoteliers and transport operators have also suffered heavy losses as cancellations pour in.

The government is on high alert

The state government has assured that all possible measures are being taken to restore normalcy at the earliest. However, with IMD predicting more rainfall in the coming days, officials remain on high alert to prevent further tragedy.
