How it happened – A Closer Look at Atiq Ahmad’s Son Asad’s Encounter with UP Police

Atiq Ahmad: Asad, a wanted suspect in the murder of Umesh Pal, was murdered in a confrontation with the Uttar Pradesh Police on April 13 near Jhansi. Asad was the son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed. During the gunfire exchange, Asad’s accomplice, who was also wanted in the Pal murder case, was fatally wounded.

Asad was misleading the STF officers

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) was charged with finding Asad Ahmed after Umesh Pal was killed in broad open. For the previous 45 days, the STF squad sought out the gangster’s kid. Asad regularly shifted between Prayagraj, Kanpur, Noida, and Delhi during this time. He also spent 12 days in Jamia. He had spent the previous four days in Jhansi. By enlisting the assistance of local helpers who picked him up and dropped him off at various locations, Asad was misleading the STF officers.

DSP Vimal and DSP Navendu oversaw the operation

To find Asad, a team of 12 members of the UP STF was assembled. The STF crew never stopped looking for Asad and Ghulam after Umesh Pal was killed. DSP Vimal and DSP Navendu oversaw the operation. According to information obtained, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, regularly updated the UP STF on the status of the Umesh Pal murder investigation and the whereabouts of Asad and other murder suspects.

The candidates for the STF positions came from Noida, Prayagraj, and Lucknow. In the interim, Asad’s postmortem was carried out at a government hospital by a group of three medical experts. Two Dy SP level officials and one SDM were present at the hospital to monitor the situation. The late Umesh Pal’s family cheered and praised the Uttar Pradesh government after Asad was killed in an encounter, adding that Atiq’s family should also experience the anguish of losing their loved ones. Since February 24, two further suspects in Umesh Pal’s murder have already died in separate confrontations with the UP Police.
