The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reissued an advisory in various regions of the nation, with the start of the southwest monsoon.
According to the weather bureau, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Gujarat, and Delhi should anticipate “heavy to extremely heavy rainfall” during the next three days.
According to them, Karnataka is still experiencing flood-like conditions as a result of heavy rain.
Maharashtra
The IMD issued a red signal for extremely heavy rain in Mumbai. The state’s Konkan area may experience severe rainfall through July 11, according to the weather bureau. During this time, torrential to extremely heavy rainfall is possible throughout the Konkan region’s districts.
Karnataka
In a few of the state’s districts, the IMD issued red alerts. Large tracts of land in the Udupi district have been submerged by floodwaters as Badakere village continued to get rain.
Following the issuance of a red alert in the district on July 9, the Deputy Commissioner of Kalaburagi, Yeshwanth Gurukar, proclaimed a holiday for all schools, colleges, and educational institutions in the area.
On Friday, the 13 districts impacted by the recent rain met under the chairmanship of the chief minister Basavaraj Bommai to discuss the state’s position.
Kerala
A yellow alert was issued in some parts of the state as they might receive heavy rain and thunderstorms in the next five days. The IMD had earlier said widespread rainfall and thunderstorm/lightning with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala, Telangana and Karnataka during the next 5 days.
Goa
Following the issuance of a red alert, the Goa government declared a holiday for students in Classes 1 through 8 on July 9.
Himachal Pradesh
For July 9, the IMD issued an orange signal for Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Solan districts.
Additionally, the weather service forecasted significant rainfall for the state’s Shimla, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and Una districts. The next 4-5 days will see more rain, according to SK Sharma, Senior Scientist, IMD, Shimla.
The rain also pounded numerous areas of Telangana. On July 8 and 9, the IMD issued a red rain warning for the state.
