JDU’s Anant Singh Arrested in Jan Suraaj Worker’s Murder Case, Political Storm Brewing Ahead of Bihar Assembly Election?

JD(U) leader Anant Singh has been arrested in connection with the murder of Jan Suraaj worker Dular Chand Yadav in Mokama, sparking a major political storm ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.

Bihar politics heats up as JD(U) candidate Anant Singh is arrested for the murder of Jan Suraaj worker Dular Chand Yadav, sparking controversy ahead of the elections.

The Arrest That Shook Bihar Politics

Police arrested former MLA Anant Singh and two others from his Barh residence on Sunday for the murder of Jan Suraaj worker Dular Chand Yadav in Mokama. The post-mortem confirmed death due to injuries to the heart and lungs, ruling it a clear case of murder.

Anant Singh Denies Involvement

Anant Singh denied involvement in the murder, claiming he was not present at the scene and accused Yadav’s men of vandalizing his supporters’ vehicles. He also blamed Suraj Bhan, husband of RJD rival Veena Devi, for plotting the incident to damage his image.

The Victim: Dular Chand Yadav

Dular Chand Yadav, a gangster-turned-politician and former RJD member, was campaigning for his nephew from Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party when he was killed, sparking outrage and demands for justice among party supporters.

 Political Fallout and Administrative Action

The Election Commission has taken the incident seriously, transferring Patna Superintendent of Police (Rural) Vikram Sihag and several other officials, including returning officers and sub-divisional police officers of Barh. Three officers have also faced disciplinary action, with one, Abhishek Singh, being placed under suspension. These swift actions highlight the sensitivity of the case, especially as it unfolds during the crucial pre-election period in Bihar.

Elections Around the Corner

Bihar votes on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14. Anant Singh’s arrest before the polls may hurt JD(U)’s campaign and affect voter sentiment in Mokama.

Political Storm or Strategic Setback?

Anant Singh’s arrest has come as a major political jolt for the JD(U) and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The opposition parties, including RJD and Jan Suraaj, have already begun using the case to attack the ruling coalition, questioning its candidate selection and credibility. As the election days draw closer, the case could become one of the most debated issues in Bihar’s political battleground, with the potential to sway public opinion and affect results in Mokama and beyond.
