BJP Calls for Jharkhand Bandh

After the police crackdown on the Ranchi protest, the BJP has called for a state-wide bandh on August 11. It stated that the bandh would be to protest the police crackdown on the protesting students and bring attention to their demands. The call for the bandh has given politics a place in the student protest movement as the opposition is getting more critical about the state government’s handling of recruitment-related issues.

Concerns Related to Recruitment Exam

There has been increasing tension in the JPSC-JSSC scandal in relation to allegations of irregularity in multiple recruitment exams. Previously, thousands of students had come out on the streets of Ranchi to demand transparency in the examination process. In July, the JPSC had postponed some civil service exams after certain developments in the investigation regarding the irregularity. Several individuals were arrested by the state CID in connection with the ongoing probe.
