Jharkhand News: Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a joint review of the Urban Development & Housing Department and the Road Construction Department at the Jharkhand Mantralaya, focusing on making Ranchi safer, better organised and free of avoidable civic problems.

Unnecessary Road Cuts To Be Shut

Soren directed officials to identify and close unnecessary median cuts across Ranchi, allowing vehicles to turn only at designated intersections. He said unplanned cuts disrupt traffic flow at several locations and asked for a detailed study of problem spots along with corrective measures.

Organised Vending Zones For Every Ward

The government will set up planned vendor markets in every ward based on local needs. Soren asked officials to identify roadside vendors and provide them dignified, organised spaces so that unplanned markets do not add to congestion, while making clear that livelihoods should not be affected in the process.

Dangling Wires And Encroachments To Be Cleared

Soren ordered agencies to organise electricity and telecom cables hanging from poles and trees, remove unused wires and create designated cable corridors to avoid repeated road digging. He also directed officials to identify illegal encroachments on government land and act as per rules, while ensuring affected people are offered alternative spaces.

Drainage To Be Built Into Road Design

The Chief Minister stressed that drainage must be part of road planning from the start rather than an afterthought. Officials were told to prepare integrated designs covering road width, drainage, footpaths and traffic flow, and to identify waterlogging-prone stretches for corrective work.

Push For Planned Development Beyond Ranchi

Jharkhand News: Soren said the state’s urban development approach should extend to other major cities as well, with zone-wise plans covering sanitation, transport, parks and green spaces. He directed all departments to complete ongoing projects within set deadlines through regular monitoring and coordination.
